American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)
www.actfl.org

ACTFL, based in Alexandria, VA, is the only national organization dedicated to the improvement and expansion of the teaching and learning of all languages at all levels of instruction. ACTFL is an individual membership organization of more than 7,000 professional foreign language educators and administrators from elementary through graduate education, as well as government and industry.

PMI coordinates the design and production of Foreign Language Annals, the official ACTFL journal. Dedicated to the advancement of foreign language teaching and learning, Foreign Language Annals seeks to serve the professional interests of classroom instructors, researchers, and administrators concerned with the teaching of foreign languages at all levels of instruction. Foreign Language Annals is a refereed journal published four times per year.

A PMI staff member serves as Managing Editor of Foreign Language Annals, managing the manuscript submission and review process, copyediting accepted articles, and coordinating the design of final pages. In addition, working closely with ACTFL, PMI produces the “Member News” section of the journal, researching and writing original articles on legislative issues, organizational interests, and other topics that affect ACTFL and the foreign language community.

PMI has also assisted ACTFL in its “2005: The Year of Languages” national public relations effort, by developing the official logo and helping produce related materials.
